Alan Leon is an artist and muralist who loves to observe the landscape.
He has been privileged to draw and paint in Asia, Africa and the Americas.~~~plein air~
Trained as a landscape architect, artist, and yogi, he has travelled as a Fulbright scholar, a Cuban sister cities mural participant and a Zimbabwean art safari member. He especially appreciates the quick thumbnail sketch.
His 50 murals have included Temescal Flows (Oakland) and From Elk Tracks to Bart Tracks; Parallel Migrations Along the Bay (Berkeley)
Alan believes in life as a study of form and that we are all designers (we make design decisions every day in our environment, clothing, nourishment, etc.).
Alan has been a seasonal artist-in-residence at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies for 30 years.
He has led a weekly, 2-hour zoom art class since 2020 and leads in person art and music experiences at his art studio in Oakland.
