These mini landscapes featuring scenes of the Santa Cruz coastline, "Water Minis," are some of artist Audrey Dooley's favorite pieces to create. Audrey picked up watercolor around a decade ago but didn't really fall in love with the medium until 2021, while living in Santa Cruz. She would walk down to West Cliff nearly every day just to observe the water, oftentimes bringing a sketchbook to try and capture the movement and colors of the ocean. Now living in Berkeley and working as a middle school math teacher, Audrey doesn't spend quite as much time painting by the coast but she still finds a lot of joy in replicating some of her favorite spots from her time in Santa Cruz.
