DOOR SERIES
My work investigates the threshold between what is and what could be, where the materiality of everyday objects meets the ephemeral nature of the world around us. By using discarded doors as my primary canvas. The doors-once practical objects-now serve as a metaphor for passage, transition, and boundary. They hold traces of past lives and histories, and as they are subjected to the elements, they continue to evolve, revealing their own stories. Each door is an artifact in constant dialogue with the weather, temperature, and climate. Over time, the rain, sun, wind, and snow interact with the painted surfaces, erasing, altering, and enhancing my work in unpredictable ways. These climate effects are not merely accidents but integral collaborators in the process, allowing nature to actively shape the narrative. With each intention lapsing for sometimes over 2-3 years until a work is completed. The use of all mediums and found objects allows me to confront the temporal nature of life itself. The cracked surfaces, and layers that accumulate over time reflect the imperfections and beauty of the passage of time. This work is not static; it is in a perpetual state of flux, much like our relationship with the spaces we inhabit. Working outdoors, I allow the environment to influence the final piece-each door becoming a canvas for personal reflection as well as a historical document, weathered and reshaped by external forces. The unpredictability of this process emphasizes the transient nature of existence, reminding us that nothing is permanent, and everything is in a constant state of becoming. Ultimately, this body of work is an exploration of memory, transformation, and the forgotten artifacts of everyday life. Through the lens of the door, I invite the viewer to step into a space where boundaries blur and time itself becomes a palpable force.
