Mixing influences from her Chinese roots with her experience living and traveling around the world, Misstencil often focuses on the interplay between cultures in her artwork. Coming from a family who loves history and archeology, she likes to juxtapose ancient and modern elements in her work too. This teapot series pays tribute to her native culture and her love for the San Francisco Bay Area—a place she has called home for the past 24 years.
After being a multimedia artist and a photographer for many years, Misstencil started to do street art during the pandemic, decorating boarded up windows and vandalizing walls with whimsical art related to local history.

Regardless of medium or tool she uses, she is forever a curious child at heart, trying to reach out across the boundaries of culture and country with stories and humor.
